Word from the Anne Arundel County Fair was good last night. On a traditionally slow dayforthe fair, it was reportedly a busy time for voter registration at the GOP booth. The Dems side seemed quiet and there were quite a lot of McCain/Palin materials given out. People would leave yard signs while riding the rides, then pick them up and carrythem around. Few Obama signs were seen. Come out to the fair and encourage the volunteers... Wear your candidate materials around the grounds.
Benjamin Civilettii and the Md. Commission on Capital Punishment hear testamony in Annapolis. After moving comments from Phylis Bricker (whose parents were murdered and who has yet to see justice done 25 years later)... Now we hear from the legal defense side.
At least one Commission member seems to be on the side of the victims.
In an at times emotional announcement this afternoon, Senate President Mike Miller said that he will seek the Senate Presidency again next year, then run again for his Senate seat next time.
I hope to have more details later.
Legislators and lobbyists await the return of Delegates and Senators from their dinner break. What will become of the BGE deal, Bingo parlors and other issues? Will they come to their senses or make things worse? We will see.

... Is the slogan on the button those against the Proof of Legal Presence Act are wearing. Yet I thought it was ill-gotten driver's licenses that the 9-11 hijackers had. Yeah, safety my arse... Were they concerned about safety when they paid the "coyotes" to smuggle them into the US?
CASA de Maryland has their throngs coming to testify (in English??).
Many are signed up for the bill as well. Other illegals legislation is also on tap.
The Proof of Legal Presence Act Hearing, sheduled for 1PM... MAY be moved to the Joint Hearing Room due to the number of people planning to testify. This is NOT DEFINITE at this point... It could still be in the House Juiciary Hearing room.
Del. Ron George's bill goes before the House Judiciary Committee later today. I'm sure Chairman Valario and his CASA friends will be enthused.
